#3 on google after 2 days - it really works!

OK so I have to say taht I was a little skeptical of the process and whether or not I could actually get a ranking for a keyword that I pursued.

I did it! I have a number 3 ranking in google for a main keyword. And with 62,000 other sites competing it was good to see. (hopefully I'm evaluating this correctly)

Thanks Howie for the push and the new insight!

New article posted - site created

Creating content

I needed to have some compelling articles to post on my blog as well as the support sites. I did some research and found some articles that others have wrote.

I also was able to piece together some ideas from the pitch page for the product.

I was able to put together three different articles. I will be using two of them on my main blog and the other one I will re-purpose to all the supporting sites.

Creating my site and picking a product.

I have had lot's of experience with setting up wordpress blogs so I decided that it would good to use this as my main site and then link to my product from there.

I figured that if it does well I can then add to the site and monetize it in different ways in the future. I also could add a capture form and start list building from the site.

I wanted to keep it simple for now and just put together a site, post a couple of articles, and put my product adds on it.

Main site: http://www.OvercomeProcrastinationNow.com

Side note: This is somewhat ironic as I have procrastinated getting into intenet marketing - learning something along the way.

Using the keywords I chose a product from clickbank. It seemed like a reasonable product and not only did it cover my niche it also had a broader appeal - this would allow for crossing into other niches in the future.

Keyword research - I suck at this...

I found that this was the hardest thing for me. I suppose that it should have been the easiest (just pick a word and take action) but, I found myself caught up in research overload.

After reading several other "challenge takers" blogs and seeing how they did their keyword choices it became a little more clear to me as to what to do.

I have chosen my keywords and moved into the next step.

I'm starting - a little late - ready, set, action....

OK so I've started the challenge. I know I'm in it a little late but, I just found out about it today.

I'm a rookie at this game so I really like the way that everyone is posting what they are doing. This has given me great insight as to what to do as well as motivation to actually take the plunge and try it for myself.

I do have some experience in marketing in the offline world and I have dabbled in the internet world as well (without much success - I'll add). I really am enjoying this challenge as it has given me a reason to get off my butt and actually take some action.

I do enjoy my job and have worked to help build the company I'm with from the ground up. I would however like to take this marketing thing to a new level and bring in new challenges and learn some new thing (not to mention make a little money).

So now I'm off to races and will be starting my first endeavor into niche marketing...
